Groww follows a flat-fee model with one important clarification that catches many users off guard: equity delivery is NOT free at Groww. The brokerage is ₹20 or 0.05% of trade value, whichever is lower — meaning on small trades under ₹40,000, you pay less than ₹20, but you always pay something. This is different from Zerodha, Angel One, and Dhan where delivery is genuinely ₹0. On the flip side, Groww's ₹0 lifetime AMC is the best in the industry.
The charge table on this page shows the raw numbers from Groww's official pricing. This guide explains what each charge actually means, which ones you can avoid, and how Groww's pricing compares to the nearest alternatives.
Groww charges the lower of ₹20 or 0.05% of trade value on both delivery and intraday trades. Practical impact: on a ₹10,000 trade, 0.05% = ₹5 (lower than ₹20, so ₹5 charged). On a ₹50,000 trade, 0.05% = ₹25 (higher than ₹20, so ₹20 charged). The break-even is ₹40,000 — above that, you pay ₹20 flat. The minimum brokerage is ₹5 per order (for very small trades). F&O is flat ₹20 regardless of value. Mutual funds: genuinely ₹0 commission on all direct plans.
Groww charges zero Annual Maintenance Charges for life — no first-year waiver that converts to a paid AMC later, no conditions. Your demat account will never be charged AMC regardless of how long you hold it or how active you are. This is a genuine competitive advantage over Zerodha (₹300/year) and ICICI Direct (₹700/year). Over 10 years, this saves you ₹3,000+ vs Zerodha. The trading account also has no AMC.
Every time you sell delivery shares from your Groww demat account, a DP (Depository Participant) charge applies. The split: ₹3.50 from CDSL + ₹16.50 from Groww = ₹20 total for male investors. Female investors get a marginal discount: ₹3.25 (CDSL) + ₹16.50 (Groww) = ₹19.75. GST is added on top. This is charged per ISIN per day, not per quantity — so selling 100 shares or 1,000 shares of the same stock costs the same DP charge. This is higher than Zerodha (₹15.34 incl GST) and Dhan (₹12.5+GST). Unlike brokerage, you cannot avoid DP charges at any broker.
MTF (called "Pay Later" on Groww) allows you to buy stocks with up to 4x leverage and hold longer than intraday without square-off. Interest is 14.95% p.a. = 0.041% per day, charged on the funded amount from T+1. If you use ₹1 lakh of MTF funding for 30 days, interest = ₹1,00,000 x 0.00041 x 30 = ₹1,230. MTF brokerage is the same as regular brokerage (₹20 or 0.05% lower). Intraday positions can be converted to MTF to avoid the 3:10 PM auto square-off.
